Gluten-Free & Celiac Disease

Is Kukko suitable for people with celiac disease?

Generally speaking, yes, since our beers are brewed as genuine gluten-free all-malt beers. However, if you have celiac disease, we recommend checking the information on the respective label and consulting your doctor if in doubt.

What standard is used to label a product as “gluten-free”?

Our products bear the AOECS “Gluten-Free Product” label (the “Crossed Grain” symbol). This standard applies to all foods and beverages and specifies what qualifies as gluten-free, how gluten content is measured, and what technical requirements must be met in the production of gluten-free products. Companies that meet this standard can apply to the Finnish Celiac Association for the right to use the symbol. Compliance is verified annually through an external audit conducted by Bureau Veritas.

Are all Kukko beers gluten-free?

Yes. All varieties currently available in our store are gluten-free.

How is Kukko beer brewed gluten-free?

Although a gluten-containing ingredient is used in the brewing process, our special brewing method ensures that the gluten content remains reliably below the threshold for “gluten-free”—it never exceeds 20 ppm.

Alcohol-free

Is non-alcoholic Kukko Beer really 0.0%?

No—all non-alcoholic Kukko products contain no more than 0.3% alcohol. This meets the standard definition of “non-alcoholic.”

Does non-alcoholic beer taste different from the original?

Since the alcohol is removed only after the beer is brewed, the taste remains very close to the original—though, as with any non-alcoholic beer, a slight difference from the full-strength version is still noticeable.

How is Kukko non-alcoholic beer made?

The alcohol is removed from the finished beer after brewing, without distillation—this preserves the original flavor instead of brewing a completely different recipe.
